Didn't have to sell/trade anything to buy the actual car.
I did have to cut back a lot of spending on other things just to pay for the un-expected mods I got...When I bought the car, I was planning on leaving the car stock...then e60forums.com came into my life..damn you e60forums.com.

According a recent U.S. survey of new car owners, about 4 out of 10 model year 2007 E60 owners replaced another BMW. About 1/2 of those replaced vehicles were 5 series, one-quarter where 3 series, and one-quarter were other kinds of BMWs (X5 & 7er).
The next most common brand traded in was Mercedes - mostly the E Class but some also from the C Class. After that, other popular models traded in were the Honda Accord, Audi A6, Toyota Camry, and Lexus ES350. It's also interesting to see how many vehicles such as minvans and pick-up trucks were mentioned.
I sold my 2001 E38 740i sport to get the 550. The other question is ... what to buy next?
