I bet if this was a non-millionaire abusing dogs, this would not be in the media or on this forum. Animals are fought, abused, puppy milled every day. Where were all of you animal lovers before? For all of you that want to spit on Vick but never spoke a word before...
Speaking for myself, I think that people who abuse dogs are the scum of the earth and should have the book thrown at them.

Cal, I am actually on a dog rescue email list. If not for being in a condo with restrictions I would have countless dogs. I forward rescue info to those I think may be able to help and once I have a house of my own I intend to do more. That being said. The Indians saw the buffalo as gods, the white man appreciated them for nothing. It is not always an informed, moral decision. Culture is significant.

Dated, but the facts are largely disclosed:

BTW: It was not my intent to sound sanctimonious earlier. But I, and many others, had made our voices heard regarding animal neglect and cruelty long before anyone knew of Vick's actions.

Scott, didn't Vick have the book thrown at him already? In the same league there are at least two people - Donte Stallworth and Ray Lewis (who happens to be one of my favorite all-time players), who have done much worse things. Interestingly enough, at work a few people have said that killing a dog is worse than killing a human... Do you agree with this?
I think Vick paid his dues and he should be given a clean slate.

I guess it depends on the person.

CWS, but there is the concept of crime and punishment, also, right? I mean, what Vick did was a horrible, deplorable crime, but how much punishment do you think would be enough for him? He did 2 years in jail already, lost his entire wealth, and for sure is precluded from getting any endorsement deals in the foreseeable future. What do you think would be an adequate punishment?
Amanuel,

I wasn't commenting on whether or not the punishment was sufficient. However, I do think he will need to prove that he is remorseful through positive actions rather than legal sanctions or loss of monetary gain, neither of which necessarily proves anything other than he cut a deal. It will take a while, in my book anyway. It's just my opinion. I suppose we all have a different point at which our personal satisfaction is reached regarding repayment for a crime. Many times, this is determined by our personal involvement in certain causes.

No I don't think that killing a dog is worse than killing a human. I think Vick got off relatively easy -- the best justice that money can buy.

Only time will tell if he has in fact cleaned up his act. Some people may think he should of got more time, others may think it was to much. Not everyone is going to agree on any situation like this.

PS. the proudction and sales of Michael Vick jerseys has already started!

I am sure that it has. And I bet that if he gets a chance to play much and does well, plenty of Eagles fan with buy them.

Me, I am NY Giants all the way. So Go Big Blue! I can't wait to heckle/taunt Vick at games. I bet that PETA members sneak in blood into games and throw it on Vick.
