I love dogs. I could never kill a dog for any reason. My 6lb chihuahua is the joy of my life. I despise what Vick did but to pretend that these dogs had to be forced/trained to find is a stretch. Often, the challenge with owning a pitbull is to provide enough love to STOP it from fighting.

Let's face cold hard economic facts -- millions and millions of dollars in future endorsements hang on Mr. Vick's words and his performance. As does the reputation of the Eagles given that most teams would not touch Vick with a ten foot pole.

Nothing Vick will say will be spontaneous or from the heart. Mr. Vick will be extremely well prepared by a publicist and/or crisis management specialist hired by him and/or the Eagles.

They will do mock interviews with him and will dry run the liekly questions over and over and over again until his answers are perfect. This is the same exact process that I use to prepare my witnesses for deposition and trial testimony.

On substance, Vick will blame no one for himself. He will accept responsibility, denounce his horrific behavior and show total contrition. He will likely talk about religion and what a great person and changed man he is -- a true "story" of redemption. This is how it is done. It will be a masterful performance and those who have a shred of hope that he is a changed man will so conclude that he is.

There are two systems of justice in this country: one for rich folks and big corporations who can afford top-flight counsel (like Mr. Vick) and those who cannot. Justice is a relative term in our system and is so heavily influenced by the resources of the parties and the quality of counsel that they can afford.

Personally, I believe that Vick was an adult and knew exact what he was doing and did it anyway. His real regret is that he got caught.

Roger, I have to say it would appear you have not seen the evidence in this case. Vick starved, electrocuted and drowned dogs that "did not fight well enough." What he has admitted to is despicable. Just do a search. Also, to blame the dogs or to imply that a breed is somehow responsible for its horrible fate due to inherent genetic characteristics is egregiously wrong. You are certainly entitled to your opinion, but I don't see how any reasonable person could come to the conclusion you suggest. That's why I suspect you are not fully aware of the details.

I bet if this was a non-millionaire abusing dogs, this would not be in the media or on this forum. Animals are fought, abused, puppy milled every day. Where were all of you animal lovers before? For all of you that want to spit on Vick but never spoke a word before...

Actually, I've been an active volunteer with the Humane Society since I was in high school. I also volunteered to protect endangered Leatherback turtles from beach poachers in western Costa Rica a few years ago. I also make a significant financial contribution to the ASPCA each year to try and stop animal abuse. Vick deserves to be vilified for what he did.

Cal, nice to talk to you again. Been gone for a while. I am not privy to all the details but I an aware that there were hangings and eloctrocution and that is incomprehensible to me. At the same time, the ignorance of cultural relationship with animals is of equal importance. My classmate in therapy school was from Montana and they vowed that when a dog got sick they took em out back and shot em. He was completely floored when our classmate from Jersey paid $4000 for her dog to have her hips replaced. He called home to tell his pops how crazy these people were.
