Seems like a most reasonable approach.
Does Tanberg still make high quality audio equipment?

In Norway you will need a confirmation from your doctor stating that your vision/eyes are all ok as long as you're over 70 and want to keep you driver's license.

To a centain point I totally agree with you but on the other hand that doesn't give the right to the younger drivers to use the roadways as a RACE COURSE.
There is no excuse for what he did. He broke the law, not me. I was on the road, and had the right-of-way. He is lucky, because the force of impact he could have sustained would probably have killed him. Can you imagine getting rear ended at 55 mph when you are practically standing still?
This idea isn't about discriminating old people. It's about making sure they are still fit to operate a car. It's about public safety. Anyone remember that old man in California that killed all those pedestrians when he accidentally hit the gas pedal instead of the brake, and drove through a street market? He is a perfect example.
Someone mentioned Chuck Yeager flying aircraft at age 80. That's fantastic. But it's off point. We're not saying that no old people should drive. Only that some old people are no longer fit to drive, and there needs to be a way to test them to be certain. I bet if there were tests for people his age, he could pass them with flying colors.
Another example: My grandmother continued to drive even after she developed cataracts. She would not listen to us when we said she should not drive until she had eye surgery. But.... if there was a testing requirement for old people, they would have taken away her license.

Vern-I deleted that final word around a minute after I wrote it. I wonder how you even had access to it.

Its got to be on ability only not age or gender. My wife used to work for a car leasing company and has driven almost everything such as Porsche, Ferrari, All BMW's etc. She's a fantastic driver. My father is 69 and drives a 3 series BMW as well as anybody!

Please correct me if I'm wrong that when we rear ended someone, we'd be at fault mostly.
...
I only speed on empty street occasionally when it's safe. Not in residential area - too dangerous. I see a lot of idiots driving fast on the street where it needs not to be or traffic condition does not allow. There is some one wrote about distinguishing b/w an idiot and a performance driver.

Single lane highway. Posted speed limit 55 mph. I am traveling on this road, at the speed limit.
Person at a stop sign turns into the highway failing to notice my car coming. That is his fault. He broke the law. What law would I have broken? None.
It's pretty simple. If you have a stop sign, that is not a 4 way stop.... then you are to yield the right-of-way to all traffic on the road until such time as it is safe to proceed.
End of story.
There are only 2 possible explainations for what he did:
1. He did not see me coming. This would have been hard to beleive because it was broad daylight, and there are no trees on this road. It's clear view for as far as you can see. But this is entirely possible.
2. He saw me, but made poor judgement as to the timing of pulling onto the road.
Either case.... his fault.
