As for the ABC expose' I will never understand why companies wait until they start getting bad press before they act.....so stupid.

Classic "bean-counting". Corporate lawyers and CPA's figure out the cheapest legal course of action in response to a particular situation. The course of action almost always changes depending on how the situation plays out. In this case mainstream media exposure resulted in a world wide recall.

On a good note, the fact that BMW is announcing a recall could mean they finally have a fix to the HPFP problem. It could be a shit disaster for them if their recall fix didn't work.
