I would have punched that punk in the face too. One of best sports punches in awhile, they never connect.

Going after the fans was over the top, that is what deserves a suspension.

I don't even buy it being called a sucker punch. You don't slam someone on the sholderpads, then yell some smack and not expect some retaliation.
Jawing is part of the game. I might have wanted to punch the guy as well, and maybe he deserved it, although technically indefensible from a sports conduct perspective.

I do consider that a true sucker punch. If you do not square up with the guy so he sees it coming, that's a cheap shot. The intention is to gain the advantage by catching the guy off guard, not because you're the superior combatant.

If someone spews smack and slams your shoulder pads, I suppose an equal show of force would be in order--yell back, shove the guy maybe? Jacking someone in the jaw from the side while they are looking forward is p*ssy.

If you watch the video carefully, you will see that he did square up. A split second before he threw the punch the other guy turned toward his coach who apparently looked like he was trying to pull him away from the confrontation.

Finally someone making sense. Havent any of you played sports?!? The second guy always gets caught. A slap on the shoulder pads or the ass doesnt deserve a sucker punch. Blount or however you spell it is a coward. Dont sucker punch someone an run back like your sweet. Bottom line is he couldnt beat there ass on the field last year in his house and he couldnt beat there ass this year in their house. He was upset and suckered punched a guy who wasnt looking, then hit a teammate, shoved a cop, tried to fight fans, and still people defend him. Good call. His own coach suspended him before the year started....he has had his chance....good to see they didnt give him another chance.

square up or not...he hit someone who wasnt looking, acted like he was the man for knocking out someone who wasnt looking, ran around the field like an idiot, tried to fight fans, pushed a cop, punched one of his teammates, and people seem to think its unfair hes suspended for a year. WOW

If it is your contention that this was a defensible punch, then I suspect we have very different views of what it means to fight with integrity. The angle at approximately 40 seconds shows a clear off-balance angular jab after a quick 45 degree body rotation. That is not squaring up in my book.

Blount acted like a wild animal -- sucker punching the BS player and then going after the fans. He earned his college career-ending suspension. That dude clearly needs some anger management therapy ASAP.

Yes I have and with my old teammates this clown Blount would've been "jail-sexed" on the field if any one of us was sucker-punched and I don't mean in the carnal tone.

So if I slap you on the ass and turn away are you going to make sure you square up with me?

Football is one of the most violent/aggressive sports on the planet. Anger, aggression, speed, strength, etc are all necessary attributes and encouraged. I agree that the Oregon player crossed the line, but a full-year suspension is excessive to me. It is funny that universities and fans expect that aggression etc on the field, then expect it to be automatically turned off. To most of us on this forum, each game is passionate, but not the means to our future. To many of these players, it is. He definitely crossed the line, but c'mon.

Hey Brett, you do know you can redeem those old Vick jerseys for a free rescued puppy at Petsmart, right?

He may be #7 on the field, but he'll always be #1 in dog years. Supposedly the same dog.

hate to see the realities of what that human put those dogs through, and though very off-topic he and all those involved in dog-fighting should suffer the same abuses
