Well, this question is not easy to answer.
First of all, if you are not a German resident, all fines have to be paid cash on teh spot, and the fines may be doubled.
The German Police can't take away your US license.
But it is possible that you are not allowed to drive in Germany anymore, for 1 month or maybe longer, brginning in the moment you got caught. If you then drive and get caught again it will be extremely expensive.
If you are from inside the EU, the German police informs your government and you might get fined back home. Maybe your license gets revoked in your home country, because of the speeding in Germany. It's possible and allways depends on the police officer, and the relationship in between the two countries.
Speeding is not as expensive as it is in other countrys. But there are several other things that you can get fined for, that are expensive too. And any fine can get even more exopensive if you are a threat for somebody on the street.
Also the Police has the right to prohibit further driving, right there on the spot.
So, let's say you drive 200 Km/h where you are only allowed to do 100 Km/h on a highway, flash your lights, give handsignals, set the left blinker, don't keep enough distance in between your car and the one in front, the pass the car in front on the right... All that itself means your license is revoked for a while... Doing all that stuff at once, you are not going to drive anywhere that day if they catch you. If somebody has an accident because you were driving like this, it even gets worse.
So, it all depends on the cicumstances and what police officer stops you.
The worst are the unmarked police cars with video on board. If they pull you over you are in trouble.
If you want to drive fast, why don't you plan on doing a couple laps at The Ring? It's safer for you, your money and the other ppl on the road...

There is plenty of Autobahn without any speed limit where you can let it fly - if traffic allows.
Best will be to go in the middle of the night on a stretch without any speed limit. There won't be any traffic and you can enjoy some high speed driving.
Total blast!
Enjoy!

I was wondering how are the speeding fines in Germany considering with how much you pass the legal limit. A friend of mine was caught doing 30km/h over the restriction (130 i think and he was doing 160..ish
) and he got fined with 60 euros. Since i am gonna make a trip to Germany in 3 weeks or so what m i to expect from speeding tickets? What if you're caught doing 50 more than the restriction or 100 over? Like on an 80km/h restriction you would be doing 170-180km/h. What are the fines in that case and at how high can it reach? I'm talking also from a foreing point of view...but what about the germans also? How does the law apply then when speeding?
I'd like some info from you guys in Germany, info regarding both foreing penalty (fines) and national treatment. Since i presume they can't do much to a foreing guy except giving a nasty ticket...

Just go for a burn on them and stick to the limit elsewhere....

Thanks guys for the input. This topic was brought up more out of curiousity then the fact that i really have the urge to cane it in Germany. Of course i'll not drive like a lunatic, and most of the time i will probably drive only slightly over the speed limit but you know from time to time it's nice to let her go, especially if you have no restrictions to do so. Hell i even do it here where the roads are quite poor compared to Germany or so...
Someone told me that a fine can be given for reversing on the autobahn in Germany, a fine of 10000 euros. Is that a fairytale or is it really possible?

Thanks guys for the input. This topic was brought up more out of curiousity then the fact that i really have the urge to cane it in Germany. Of course i'll not drive like a lunatic, and most of the time i will probably drive only slightly over the speed limit but you know from time to time it's nice to let her go, especially if you have no restrictions to do so. Hell i even do it here where the roads are quite poor compared to Germany or so...
Someone told me that a fine can be given for reversing on the autobahn in Germany, a fine of 10000 euros. Is that a fairytale or is it really possible?![Embarrassment](https://5series.net/forums/images/smilies/imported/ohmy.gif)

JUST BE CAREFUL and check the tires at each station, even if my system monitors, I check that, it is the most important to have the right pressure at insane speeds. Then have fun Bro
