My Ride: Alpine White 2006 530Xi (SLD)
Been thinking about switching to DISH, just trying to figure out if its any good.
I have 1080p tvs (obviously), and I understand that DISH actually broadcasts in 1080p. And I also think its kinda cheaper than dig. cable, which does NOT b/c in 1080p - only 1080i, so it seems like a no-brainer. But you know, if it looks too good to be true - that old adage...
anyway, can you guys tell me if you all think its even worth the bother, pls.

DirecTV also broadcasts some HD content in 1080P. They also have video on demand (although it requires a high-speed internet connection). A well located and properly aligned satellite dish should be reasonably immune to weather related drop out. I've been pretty happy with DirecTV over the years.

Had Dish years ago and DirecTV. Now have Comcrap. I hate to say it but they all have their issues. DirecTV used to be great but before I left a couple of years ago they started acting like another cable company. PQ is better with Satellite but only marginally and DTV as well as DISH compress their image quite a bit. If you like TiVo then forget Satellite for now as well. Pick your poison.

Can you get FiOS where you are?
I am basically between either keeping the cable setup or getting DISH - those are pretty much the only options I have.
I've been pretty happy with Optimum, except for the PQ being somewhat sub-par and they do not have ANY 1080p channels - only 1080i. And most of the HD channels are actually 720p. But I'm still pretty happy with it.
I would hate to have weather interference though. Some people in our building mount their dishes on the roof and run the cables down. I haven't asked how it works, but I'd imagine that dish being on the roof allows it to be positioned as good as it could be? There are no taller buildings in the vicinity, nor are there any trees or anything to be in the way (not that trees would interrupt the signal, would they?)
anyway, I'm still confused... I originally looked to DISH to cut some costs (my cable bill is a bit out of control), but I'm not even sure about that anymore, as I'd have to get a seperate inet provider...
