My Ride: 2008 550I LOADED, all options except HUD and NV
Steps to creating a bunch of insurance write offs:
1) Bad weather
2) Dumbass drivers who think they can drive full speed in any conditions
3) mix well
And "voila", you have a big mess on a busy highway. Happens in Cali all the time on the 5 - people have yet to figure out that you can't go full speed in dense fog, go figure. Throw in even the slightest moisture and driving in SoCal REALLY gets interesting. They hit each other when it damp.

My Ride: See my signature
Vicky and I are blasting around the roads in northeastern Spain today in a rented TDI Passat. Thankfully, there is not a cloud in sight and no rain at all. I sure do feel sorry for those folks in Germany. As aggressive a driver as I am with a dry road, I totally grandma the car in the rain as the traction is so much less.

Three weeks ago, we were driving from Ramsau to W?rzburg, in absolutely bizarre weather. It went from partially sunny, to utter darkness and some of the hardest rain that I have ever seen. Speeds on the Autobahn went from unrestricted (we were cruising at about 200km/h), to a complete standstill - 5 lanes of traffic (north of M?nchen) not moving at all.
I can see how a major pile up like this could happen, and I am glad that we managed to safely get to our destination.
