My dad is considering getting a 650i next year. If I become BMW CCA member, can he take advantage of my rebate? Or do I need to add him on as an associate member?

And does anyone want to provide me with their membership # so I can put them down as a referrer? Not sure if you guys get credit for it.
He needs to be a member for a minimum of 12 months before he takes delivery. Sign him up now.

Associate membership is designed for spouses, I believe.

Sorry, I misread you post. He can't take advantage of you rebate, unless the car is in you name with your address, etc. They are very strict on this, for obvious reasons.

When you sign him up, use your number as a referrer, and you'll get a month's dues for free.

The rebate for a new 650i is $1,000. If he is not planning on buying the car for another 12 months it will be well worth for him to become a member.

If my dad and I reside in the same household, would he qualify for associate member status and receive the rebate? Or should I just sign up under his name?

I don't plan on buying another BMW for a while, so I would like him to reap the benefits from the membership. I just want to read Roundel.

He might. I'd suggest reading the fine print.

The following .pdf contains the "fine print" that should outline the rules and regulations of the membership rewards program:

Here are the rules for the rebate:

You may be eligible to receive an allowance based on the purchase or lease of a new or Certified Pre-Owned BMW through an authorized U.S. BMW center. A membership of one year or more immediately preceding the purchase or lease date of the vehicle is required to take advantage of this program. A member in good standing cannot have any lapse in membership during that 12-month period.

Terms and Conditions:
Only those vehicles purchased/leased from authorized BMW centers in the U.S. qualify for the allowance. The BMWCar Club Allowance is non-transferable and
can only be redeemed by a car club member. Sales documents and vehicle title must be in the member?s name. If a member co-signs for a vehicle with a non-car club member, both must reside in the same household. If a member co-signs for a vehicle with another car club member, both must reside in the same household, but, there can only be one rebate submission. This program is not available in conjunction with other special purchase programs offered by BMW of North America, LLC, including but not limited to the Vendor Program or any other certificate offer. Vehicles purchased or leased through a 3rd party (i.e. brokers, lease companies, etc.) do not qualify. BMW allows one rebate per calendar year per member and only one member can apply for a rebate if there is joint or multiple ownership of the vehicle. (For Certified Pre-Owned vehicles, rebates will be paid once per vehicle per customer.) BMW is not responsible for late, lost or misdirected applications.

It states the buyer must be a member. It does not differentiate between a member and an associate member.

Here are their definitions of an Associate Member:

Associate Member(s) - additional $5.00 per year, per associate
* An associate member derives all the same benefits and services as the primary BMW CCA member with the exception that no Roundel magazine or newsletter will be provided.
* An associate member must reside in the same household as the primary member.
* if you would like to add more than two associates, please call the National Office at (800) 878-9292

It would probably be a good idea to call them. You don't want to miss out on a $1,000 rebate after waiting a year because of a technicality. A one year membership costs $40 and it costs another $5 to add an associate member.

Good luck.
