[/quote]The new one I recived had an amendment to the owners manual specifically stating that the unit now had the new POP protection in it. When the unit powers up, the initials P..O..P light up before the usual sequence. If yours does not do that, then you need an upgrade.

If, as I suspect, Valentine's "solution" is to monitor the specific frequencies currently used by the pop mode, there is nothing to stop the radar gun makers from moving to another frequency. The only way to fully guard against the pop mode is to be able to detect the extremely short bursts over the entire bandwidth, and I don't know if that can be done in an affordably priced detector. I hope Mike V. has figured it out, and not just reacted to feature competition from Escort and Bel. I hope the Valentine web site offers some information soon.

I will quote the addendum to my owner's manual
V1 covers POP on two bands - specifically the MPH Industries models BEE III(Ka Band) and Enforcer (K and Ka)
Joe 540 is correct about the way to identify if your model is upgraded for POP. I suspect this is a very recent development and the website will be updated soon.

I have the Passport 8500 w/ forward and rear firing laser
detectors/jammers. They are legal in Md.,Penn. and maybe in
