As far as home defense goes this would be the last option. I think my dad is jealous, he is coming over tonight to check it out. He also told me if I goto a class and get my hand gun license that he will buy me a handgun as a better home defense weapon. I agree a nice short barrel shot gun is the best option but im not going to turn down a free hand gun. I see this as a long term hobby anyways. Might as well start the collection and become knowledgeable in many areas.

I think i did pretty well in picking out my first rifle. I feel I got a good quality rifle for a good price! Overall im excited and cant wait to get to the range!
Wait, I thought you said earlier in this thread that handguns are worthless? If you think they're worthless, then you still shouldn't bet your life on it, even if it is free.

worthless might not of been the best choice of words but since its free i will take it. 223 bullets going through the neighbors house doesnt sound like a good situation. So we'll say the shot gun is first in line for home defense and second would be the worthless hand gun.

Dunno if it is already opted, but how about a AR-15 in .223 REM with a .22LR conversion kit?

im looking into that. it changes the rifle into one that shoots .22 ammo for when you want to shoot 1000 rounds and not cost you your first born.

I didnt know you can buy 30 round mags. I thought they were limited to 20!

Only a chick would make her rifle pretty- and only a 5series.net member would mod it immediately!

The rifle came with the 30 when i bought it. You can buy 40's, or even 100 round drums. 100 round drums are like 300 though. not worth in when i can get 2 40 round mags and tape them together and bam i got 80

im not making it pretty, im making it bad ass.
