The XD series from SA is a great choice, especially for American shooters. It has the same grip angle as the 1911, which is thought to be more natural for Americans with previous exposure to firearms. A lot of EU guns have different grip angles, which some find less than natural.

The XD shoots beautifully, and is quite rugged. The XD 45 is no thicker to grip than the XD 9. It can hold 13+1 45 ACP. Quite a bit of firepower.

YOU GOT THAT RIGHT.. in my crazy days i had a .45.. but the dam thing was to big and way to hevy... and the kick back was crazy.. and when i say crazy days i mean crazy days... i grow up in a very bad area of brooklyn... it was crazy then.. glad i moved very far from that life... but it gave me alot of street smarts and how to use clean brake down a gun.... not the best up bringing but it helps....
