I believe global warming to be an extremely serious, human existence threatening challenge. For me this trumps getting my favorite BMW automobile. Going green will influence my next car purchase.

I associate people who do not believe in global warming with the intelligence level of President Bush, undoubtedly the worst and dumbest president in US history.
Scroll back up, like the intelligent being you are, and watch the documentary I posted. Then, you get to decide if your or anyone else's mind is small or large, or perhaps even more important, open or closed.

Heck, watching this may persuade you that you don't have to buy a Prius the next time.

Nice expansion.

When I saw this program (when it was originally transmitted) I noted all the points made with interest. OTOH it's a fool who thinks that our energy consuming and polluting lifestyles have ZERO impact on future generations and if (even for the wrong reasons) more awareness of how to live our lives whilst minimising this impact comes out of the current propoganda, then that can only be a good thing.

Now where can I get 60 litres of diesel for less than $6.70/US gallon today...

So your "Going Green" would justify your gas guzzling 545? Hypocrite is the word that comes to mind for me.

It does not mean everyone should give up driving pleasure and run scared to Toyota dealership. Enough insensitives should be in place to steer car industry towards more efficient cars. Actually, it is already happening - look at CO2 reduction numbers in BMW MY 2008 compared to MY 2007. If hybrid BMW was available it would be my first choice. In a few years Tesla may be able to produce all-electrical luxury sedan and I'll have a serious look.

BTW, I own Prius but I am going to sell it.

Go to FOX and Friends and listen to the people of importance that speak about GW. After listening to them you wonder how Gore has so much backing after hearing mistake after mistake he makes about GW. As far as President BUSH IMO he is doing a great job considering what he has to work with..
Have a nice day
cheers

Nick

So your "Going Green" would justify your gas guzzling 545? Hypocrite is the word that comes to mind for me.
It depends on how your choosen car is driven.
take my example,

My wifes BMW116i sport gave me 30mpg (wasnt geared high enough for cruising at 90mph)
My 545i gives me 28mpg (seems comfortable just pottering)
My E46 M3 gave me 27mpg (you want to give it the 'loud' pedal)

In short, its not the size of your bits, its what you do with them!

Now, if you spend alot of time sitting in city traffic then a Hybrid is best - well next to walking that is.

Not necessarily. The batteries manufacturing process and disposal are far from "green".

And BMW has a start/stop system for urban driving.
