Kubica was along side of Kimi when he was hit. It could have easily been Kubica that was taken out of the race.
I was wondering about that too. It appeared to me that Lewis turned to hit Kimi rather than Robert. I was wondering if he did that intentionally since he probably thought that Kimi was a bigger threat for the overall championship. If Lewis realized he was not going to be able to stop in time and that he was going to hit one of those two guy he might as well take out Kimi in an effort to keep his title hopes alive.

And it was a great win for Robert and BMW Sauber, but the win would have been even sweeter if he would have won the race with two of the top drivers, Kimi and Lewis, still on the track at the end. But at the end of the day it is a win.

I think he saw he had a possibility of avoiding Kimi to the left, but Kubica was up agains the pit lane wall and had no room there. Also, he was probably more lined up behind Kimi than Robert. Incidentally, I saw someone pull that exact manuver on the 101 freeway yesterday. They didn't notice the people breaking ahead and pulled their car to the right since they had no room to the left (being that they were in the fast lane)because of the center wall. They hit the car in front on their rear corner and careened across the freeway, beaching it on the right side curb and plants. No way to begin a weekend.

Nice racing shots. I noticed you said you were using a D200 with the 70-200mm f/2.8 with a 1.7x teleconverter. I had a similar setup. D300 with the same lens and a 2x teleconverter. It worked out pretty well for the weekend. A little heavy to lug around but worth it in the long run.

No man...let's be serious, he isn't that capable. I think no one is. His brain had a fart, and after that to conisder in 0.0001 second he had the time to think all that and decide to hit Kimi is just impossible. Moreover as you can see he steered as much as possible to the left as that was the only hope for a miss, as there was some space between Kimi's car and the wall. There was no space between Robert's car, the wall and Kimi's car. So it was clearly more of an instinct than judgment.

The brat didn't judge at all when he saw the cars stopping and then coming to a halt. He decided to accelerate And after that instead of being ashamed his big almost-champion ego made him really angry on everybody, even on the cameras
