My Ride: 2004 545i - Bone stock... help!
Default

Zomg 4 days of events has my bones tired and worn! Was a good time, I especially like the GP2 and the Porsche race, very exciting with lots of battling and good racing. The F1 while faster, was definitely slower with some good battles spread around, but mostly a pretty large separation between cars.

Anyway, will post pics once I grab them off my camera.

Sounds like my experience of F1 too; I went to the Austrian GP (the Baracello letting Schmacher pass scandal) and the best race of the day was the Porsche cup!

Looking forward to seeing the pics...

I've been to 2 F1 races, USGP in '04 and Montreal last year. Both were incredible 3-4 day experiences. I was at the end of the main straight at Indy. The V10s (in '04) screaming to 240mph and braking into turn one was incredible. I was at turn 2 last year and got to experience the downshift, turn, and acceleration abilities of the cars. I was hoping for action in the turn but only saw that in the other races. Every day in Montreal required a 40 minute, 2 train ride to the track, and a 2 mile walk to the seats. Along with the reverse to return. I also attended some of the downtown events and didn't get back to the room until 10 each night. It was an expensive trip but I'd do it again if it comes to Canada in 2010. Plus I got to see the BMW 1-2 victory!!!

See some of my pics from last year here: 2008 F1 Thread Go to page 11 if not taken there directly.

Not a great week for F1...

Toyota has pulled out.

Bridgestone has pulled out...

Renault is meeting today to (probably) confirm their intention to pull out...

Got to feel bad for Kubica - the team he is joining will probably not be in F1 next year.

It seems natural there should be so much "pulling out" considering the entire sport is getting fvcked.

It will be interesting to see what Mercedes does on the engine supply front if Renault goes, especially after Braun did so well against Mc Laren this year -- I doubt Ron D is best pleased about that decision now

Toyota's F1 adventure will go down as one of the biggest motorsports epic failures. The amount of money they spent and zero wins to show for it.

Some big developments today...

Mercedes has purchased Brawn and will rename it as Mercedes Grand Prix. Looking at Rosberg and perhaps Heidfeld as their drivers if Button can't be persuaded to stay. Button looks like he's heading to McLaren.

Mercedes will continue to supply McLaren with engines until 2015, and the team will still be called Vodafone McLaren Mercedes.

Personally, I'd look at Kubica if I were Mercedes, but they do seem to want a German driver...

Yup, read this today. Exciting stuff. Kind of odd the year BMW quits, Mercedes gets their own team.

Agree Mercedes should be looking at Kubica.

Also Trulli looks to be in line for a Lotus seat.
