Patrick, are you hearing any info re Mercedes ditching McLaren in 2011?
Yes. News reports here say that the relationship will "change" after 2011, and that Mercedes-Benz will buy a 75% stake in BrawnGP. Thus, Formula 1 for Mercedes-Benz will be considerably cheaper than it is now with McLaren.

It also sounds as if the current relationship between Mercedes-Benz and McLaren is strained, due to the recent MP4-12C super car's release.

Considering what a terrible job he did with his own team, I hope that (if there still is Renault in Formula 1 next year) they find someone else!

My guess is a one year ban for Renault from F1, and Alonso joins Ferrari.

This statement from Renault, basically because they are admitting guilt, is not going to just rock F1, but motorsport as a whole!
If it can be proved that Alonso knew about the race fixing (which of course he did), then I think that Alonso will be looking at sanctions as well.

Alonso just cannot avoid controversy, where ever he drives!

Without a doubt, he will lose the Singapore Grand Prix victory, and quite possibly worse.

We will know more next Monday when Renault appears in front of the FIA World Motor Sport Council in Paris. Keep in mind that The Turd recently stated that if all of this turns out to be true (charges against Renault), it will be much more serious than the McLaren scandal.

+1, have to think that Alonso carries some risk here too.

Thanks - I'd heard rumors but not any details. Appreciate the info and the update. Interesting times!

That would be very interesting if Alonso lost the win and all those behind him in the race jump up a point or two, that might change the lead of the entire championship. Didn't Hamilton win by only one point? What if Massa gains 2 by Alonso having Singapore taken from him. That'll be really interesting.

It wouldn't change anything significant. Hamilton was third in that race (so he'd get 8 instead of 6) and Massa was 13th so would gain nothing. So it would mean Hamilton won the championship by 3 points instead of just one.
