really nice vid... its good to remmember some of f1s history and see the greats in action.... sometimes i wish that kind of racing still happens, but now alot has to do with tyres and fuel and strategy...
they just pit and change postions, not alot off wheel to wheel racing..

I think that's because of the conditions in wich F1 is "played" today. I mean we have very very tough regulations, the cars have been banned from using some techincal stuff like turbocharging, or more important "ground effect". Ground effect played a vital role amongst other, by allowing the driver to literally sit right behind the competitor in all turns and then finally to come out of the aspiration and make the pass. In our days it's very hard with this downforce ban because drivers struggle alot in turns to stay in the aspiration becuase in this way downforce is reduced dramaticly because of the lack of wind from the other car and grip is minimalised. So overtaking in bends like we see in clips like those, in our days is very risky. Very probably that if there were no restrictions today we would have seen drivers in F1 cars wearing G-suits.

true... last year.. by the end of the season when car speeds jumped back. drivers where complaining of neck pains(because of speed, & g-forces) and this is mid-end of season so all their muscles are developed...

thats a nice though...maybe one day we will see g-suits in F1.. but in the pace they are moving and changing direction i wounder how the suites will cope...

do you know that in the monte carlo tunel they just cant see anything anymore, their eyes dont react as fast as the change in light... so they just hold the steering wheel and hope they come out the other side facing the right direction... and inthe past few seasons we've seen quite a number come out facing the wrong direction....

f1 really needs to get back to those wheel to wheel days.. when the driver was considered a superhero..

...that would imply less safety for the driver i think...
