I've wasted many badguys with this gun..............in Syphon Filter.

Heheheh - is it listed as a Steyr AUG in Syphon Filter? That is the model the MSAR is based on...

Hahaha - no, this isn't like that...

It's the same caliber ammunition as an AR-15. It's a bullpup design, meaning that the barrel sits well back into the butt of the gun. It makes it uniquely suited for close-quarters. A longer overall length is bad if you're maneuvering in a small room or tight area.

Oh, so this is kinda creepy...

A guy who works for me said he went shooting with his dad after getting an AK-47. His dad is a Vietnam vet, and apparently the sound of the rifle really got to him.

I can't even imagine the things that sound (AK-47 sound) must be hardwired to in a person who has been attacked with one.

I'm thinking of getting this for protection:

Do you think it's enough?

I'm wondering, no offense at all, why the Americans like to buy and own guns so much? I mean, there's not much use for it except hiding in your drawers or closets, and you are not planning to shoot someone, and I assume you won't be carrying the AK when you go for a meal or shopping. The only chance that you are going to use it is if someone is robbing/assaulting your house and you have to protect yourselves, but not with an AK wassat.gif !?!?

I'm asking this question not out of unrespect to anybody but wondering the logic behind it.
I appreciate the non patronizing tone of your question. Yes... this is not a weapon that would be used for home defense, homeland defense yes, but home defense no. There are several reasons why I made the purchase...

1. Because I can, it is my Constitutional Right, and I wanted one. Why buy a BMW that goes 150 mph when it is against the law to go over 70mph in most places? Because we can, that's what we want... etc. etc.

2. Second, it has been our Constitutional Right for law abiding citizens to bear arms since the signing of that document. That Right is about to come under fierce challenges and I wanted to exercise that Right before it is taken away from me.

3. The AK is perhaps the most prolific, successful small arms weapon in history. Not only as a weapon of aggression... but as a weapon of defense. Because of it's relative cheap cost and reliability, it has been available to those who would otherwise not have access. (This is obviously both good and bad). Anyway, it has played a huge role in the history of many worldwide conflicts and I wanted one.

4. The US has historically thought our homeland to be invincible from attack... then Pearl Harbor... then 911. Do I expect to have to defend myself in a terrorist attack or military conflict... no not really... but I don't expect to get in a car accident either, and I still wear my seat belt.

I am sure I could write a short book on this issue... but I hope the above sheds a little light.

Depends on who or what you are defending yourself against?

I don't own guns, never have. But I see why people do. I use to go to the shooting range all the time. Honestly, shooting guns is a damn good time. I even use to take girls on dates to the shooting range in college, they loved it.
