Posting opinion is good, but not claim this opinion is a rule.
Example:
IMHO the 550 is a better car than the 535 because...
Instead of posting:
The 550 is the better car (and then no explanation)

It has not been a big problem on our forum and I think it will never become a big problem.

Or another option:

My 550i is better "for me" because........., but "you" may find a different model better for "you".

Casper,
You, nor I, get to choose what is "better" for everyone else. We could not possibly know that. Every adult is entitled to make their own choices based upon their own needs as long as it does not deliberately bring harm to others. Someone else's needs may be, and probably are, completely different than yours or mine.

Cool! Semantics. I do not choose what is better for everyone else, I merely suggest what I believe is better. I can not express opinion with so many disclaimers and clausules, this is not a legal document, is simply a personal opinion, and I can say " "model A" is better than "model B" because is faster, it has a V8, it looks better, has better wheels, etc"" See? That is just an opinion and is allowed here, is not meant to offend anyone, why do you feel offended? I know that everyone will not be in agreement, ever.

There's no need for disclaimers, and no reason to fear expressing and opinion. However, as I learned a long time ago, in such situations, it's not the message that's offensive, it's the delivery.

Exactly!

Usually, when things get heated in an internet forum, it's because someone posted something that gets misinterpreted by someone else and things escalate. The trick is to slow down when replying and try to state your opinion as gently as possible while remaining as clear as possible. Once you type the reply, before submitting it, it's always good to re-read it and try to see if there's chance of someone getting pissed off by what you wrote. If so, sometimes something as simple as a smiley to "lighten things up" can help keep things civil.
