I'll let you know in 30+ years when I'm old enough to feel the urge to be sequestered on a floating bacteria trap surrounded by gluttons and the the infirm.
Sounds like a plan. If I am still alive in 30+ years.

anyway.. i was on the norwegian dawn in nyc once. my first time on a cruise ship. i did that overnight thing. it was in october and it went 100 miles offshore i think and came back by morning. i stayed in a nice room in the back of the boat. less rocking, my father was on the boat with his wife and they were in the front adn there stuff was all over the place. mine wasnt i had a balcony and it was cute. i was a little bored out of my mind, but yet again it was only one night.
Bored? Although, just one night wouldn't have given you the full experience. Our typical agenda on excursion days was a quick breakast buffet, head on shore, get picked up by the excursion tour company, enjoy that for the morning, do lunch somewhere (if not provided by the excursion and always at ship recommended locations), tour the island a bit, return to ship, hang out at the pool or excercise rooms, shower for dinner, watch the sunset while leaving port, enjoy a 4+ star 4-5 course meal, plan the evening activity (theatre, broadway show, cassino, whatever), enjoy a late evening coctail or walk the promonade deck, and final head to the room. On days at sea, we'd simply sleep in a bit, hang by the pool more, or explore the ship (galleries, lounges, specialty lunch areas, etc).

My last cruise was right after several publicized incidents. Princess took incredible precautions, wiping down any counters or areas between each person. Whether it was registration desks, bar areas, or anywhere.

HAHA! J/K guys. My sister goes all the time. I just like to tease her about it. I've heard it's a great way to see Alaska.

I'm not a big fan of Cruises, but this year, my wife and I took my in-laws on Norwegian for their 40th anniversary. I took the Norweigan Gem (their newest ship to the Fleet) in February, out of NY Harbor for 10 days to the Carribean to visit 5 islands. It's one of the best cruise liners in the world. Why? 2 words...Freestyle Cruising. It's a brilliant idea that I'm sure many other top liners are going to soon follow. Look it up, if you don't know what that is. Once you try it, you'll never want to go with another company again. It's brilliant marketing.

Carnival is ghetto. We took some clients on Carnival in 2000 and I'd rather shoot myself than ever go back on a Carnival ship.

Stay on the upper decks (Floors 11 or 12) and get a Suite with a balcony. It's the only way to roll.

PS - I gambled so much in their casino, they invited my wife and I back for a free trip again this coming February (Same ship, same dates...only difference is no Barbados. Puerto Rico, Antigua, St. Thomas, St. Maartin and Tortola). We gladly accepted.

I hated Carnival too. But Cunard, same parent company of Carnival, is very luxurious and nice. Very boring ship though. Casino was great! I brought $3000 there and only used $100 to win $2500. That's 2500% profit!!! But of course Calton probably dropped $100K to play. Now Calton, did you bring home extra cash or had to donate?

I remembered this same lady was losing like crazy on the NCL. She signed on already $50K and she called her bank to get $25K more! I was like, u gotta be crazy.

Our Casino host offered it to us for $10,000 for the week. We might consider it, depending on whether we bring a nanny with us or her parents again.

Wow. The price for it on our cruise is $25,000 for two persons. I'd jump on it as the Garden Villa suites are unbelievable.

From what I have read on the net, the Garden Villa suites are absolutely amazing -- the biggest suites available at sea at over 5,000 square feet. That price is only $3,000 more than we are paying for an AB Suite for 9 days -- a suite almost 10 times smaller than a Garden Villa suite.

I have read that sometimes as the cruise data approaches, you can get an "upsell" on the GV -- that is, snag it at a much much lower rate than the rack rate. I am hoping that we get that opportunity. So far, there is still one unsold GV on my cruise but given that it staddles Thanksgiving, I bet that it gets booked. But hope springs eternal.
Us youngsters do not have that much cash to throw around on one cruise
