Hi Red! I'm based in Adelaide. I used to have a 540i, had to wait nearly 6 months for it. Got most of the options other than the ski bag thing and paid $151k for it. What a beauty of a car. Mine was Silver Grey (pic in avatar). After 4 months I had a chance to try a 550i and decided I needed it so bye bye 540i and helloooo 550i I now have Eibach Pro Kit springs on mine and by next week I'll have the H&R sway bars. I'm also thinking of getting some Brembo brakes but can't find a supplier yet in Adelaide.

Anyway, PM me if you are ever coming to Adl and would like a cruise around the Adelaide Hills and country side Just do a quick search for my previous posts and you'll see the type of fun we get up to

BTW, give us pics of yer car!

Forgot to mention, BMW is holding their Advance Driving course at Eastern Creek on the week end 3/8. You should really do it if you haven't already. I'd recommend you do Advance II and then Perfection. I've done both in at the Mallalla race track in SA. Am now thinking of doing Perfection again at Eastern Creek and do Fascination at Phillip Island once they have the new M3's.

Highly recommended!

My Ride: 2007 530d 2003 X5 3.0A (from new) Previously 2003 Z4 3.0

Hi, another Aussie here. Just took delivery of a 2007 530d with Professional Nav, Sunroof, Bluetooth Phone etc. This car replaced a 2003 Z4 3.0 I had from new.

I purchased this car almost by accident, was asked to test drive the car and loved the torque and power of the turbodiesel.

On the open road the car is an absolutely effortless tourer. I do miss the Z4's agility but the E60 is no slouch in the twisty bits!

Hi Redrobin,

I live in Brisbane and have a 2006 540 too. It only done ~13,000k's so far. I have had a few technical issues and most are sorted now other than the "bluesky" effect putting the headlights on on bright sunny days and the lousy stinking transmission / throttle response. The latter totally ruins what is a really sweat car. I hear that an aftermarket remap makes a huge difference but don't see why BMW don't get it sorted.. I have been thinking of letting it go if I could find something better.

I haven't driven or seen the 2007 model yet but it sounds like they have addressed all the issues so who knows maybe a 4th 5er...

Happy motoring!

Cheers
Oz540

My Ride: 05 530i M Sport Sedan / Silver Grey
Default

Hi guys,

I am an Aussie living in OZ....Adelaide to be exact. I drive a Silver Grey 530i M Sport which i purchased from BMW Sydney (executive driven) and then had it transported back to Adelaide, didn't want to drive it back due to the amount of kays and stone chips.

Bimmers are so expensive in OZ compared to the US and the prices are even worse here in Adelaide as there is only one authorised dealer. I travel to the US once or twice a year on business and being a gluton for punishment i always pick up a couple of auto mags to read on the domestic flights, it is crazy what you can get for your money compared to here.

I think OZ would be an extremely profitable sector for BMW, it certainly would pale in comparison by volume but i am sure the margin is fat (obese even), hence the expenisve coffee machines and even more expensive model-esk receptionists.
