BMW is famus for rear wheel drive and the Ultimate Driving Machine.
I just hope the next M3 will not have the all wheel drive.

You people are dinosaurs! AWD is the future. And Audi is never going to compare to a BMW, as long as they keep building their products on FWD-derived platforms, with engines way over the front axle line and front overhangs the size of a Mini Cooper. AWD M5 is a vast improvement over the RWD. I know everyone wants to burn rubber and drift, but real-life, to go fas quickly you are MUCH better off having all four wheels driven. Hands down. This is just BMW catching up to what has been a natural evolution of car-building. Has little to do with Audi - even if Audi did force this metamorphosis onto the entire market. M5 will only be better for it.

I like where this is headed!

if AWD is the future why dont they use it in F1 cars.
I know almost all ppl dont know how to drive fast in a car so they make things that help them to drive fast and much safer on the roads.
soon in 10 years time we all dont not to drive the cars and just let the computer do it.
there not fun or skill needed in driving a sports car with loads of gadgets helping you.
for a normal car I agree they should have AWD for safety.

BTW can the AWD be switch off in the New M5?
If so then having it is OK, if it full time then no way.
might as well get a 2nd hand Lambo to drivewith the same money.
