Hi All,

I am an E60 owner (2006 with 162,000 miles) and looking at the 2013 model year for an F10. What are the features that you are really glad that you got with your F10, or the ones that you WISH you had gotten?

Thanks for your ideas in my design/ordering!

Mark

I have a 2011 535i M-Sport with Premium 1 & 2, and Comfort Access, built in 10/10. The one thing I wish I had now is the HUD, which did not become available until 03/11, You will want the HUD, if not for the HUD itself, but for the Extended Black Panel Display that comes with it. I would not buy another F10 without it. Also, give serious consideration to the Ceramic Controls option.

My E60 528i (09) was almost basic to bare bones. The only options on that were Premium and Xenon lol..

My F10 was quite a leap for me already (but still pretty "basic" compared to other F10 owners on this forum)... I got a 535i (2012) with Premium 1, Comfort Access (I think it's a MUST since it's now a keyless start, why not have a smart key entry/exit also?!), and Technology Package (which the original one the dealer was trying to sell me was missing TECHNOLOGY PACKAGE but after forcing them to look at their storage inventory, there was a unit with the Technology package that hasn't gone thru PDI yet) .. For me this is ample (until down the road when it's time to change again) I'm just glad I didn't get the unit without the technology package as I think it's weird to have Navi/parking sensors yet no camera when you are backing up (it would only show a picture of an F10 and different colors around the bumper when you are getting too close to something)..

GL with your car buying process!

HUD can be retrofitted. Give it some time and the parts will show up on eBay just as they did for the E60. So far coding the F10 is a breeze compared to learning NCSExpert, so I am sure that by the time people start wrecking their F10's we will have mastered the software.

I love my Hi-Fi Professional audio and the non-RF tires.
The F10 MUST HAVE at least the PDC, even better if also the camera system.

Honestly I am regretting getting the convenience package, where the doors close by themselves once you notch them to the first part... the idea if this was great but every once in a while I forget to tell someone about the feature and they slam the door and I just cringe since I know those poor motors in side are just crying with all the violence... I am pretty sure this will be one of the first things to break on the car.... sadly.

I really like the extended black panel instrument panel and it wasn't very expensive (I did not order the HUD display).
Speed limit info was a waste of time and only works reliably about 70% of the time.
I wish I had ordered the USB connection. I can copy music to the navigation hard disk but it only holds about 12G of music. Since a USB stick could hold 32gb then it would be nicer to play from that (which bizzarely can only be done with the option of the USB socket between the front seats, not the USB socket in the glovebox that you get when you have navigation.

You must not be stateside, as the only way to get the Extended Black Panel Display here is to order the HUD. I think another downside besides the size limitation of using the Hard Drive for music is that it will not display Album Art like the USB Port / Combox connection will. The 6FL USB port is a definite Must Have option.
