F10 Discussion Anything and everything to do with the F10 5 Series. The F10 made it's debut in 2010 as a MY2011.

Will we see a correction by BMW with the F10 like we did with the E60

Yes, the F10 is heavy but the whole weight issue, to me, is overblown. The F10 is not the only "heavy" new model car out there.....so are most new models. The important factor, in my opionion, is power-to-weight ratio. As long as you have a powerful enough engine, capable chassis, and the right tires, performance is not an issue. This is especially true in the case of the F10 550i...it has enormous power and torque which more than makes up for its weight. As a previous owner of an E60 545i, I can honestly say that my F10 550i is just as capable in the handling department (if not more) and as far as speed and acceleration is concerned, it's no contest!
I agree that BMW will not be making radical changes to the F10. As I thought it would, the F10's more conservative styling and greater luxury is gaining BMW far more mainstream buyers than it is losing enthusiast buyers. We are die hard enthusiasts here who worship performance and handling but folks like us are but a small percentage of the 5 Series potential buyer pool.

I am unhappy with the big weight gain from the E60 but the competition really isn't much lighter. This class is just moving in the luxury/greater weight direction. I luv the current M3 but it is just too small for my needs. The wife already complains that the E60's rear seat is not roomy enough. I'd have a domestic rebellion if I downsized to the M3. So it will likely be the F10 550 for me. A Dinan Stage 2 tune with over 500 bhp should smooth over my hurt feelings about the weight gain.

BMW did change DHP settings for 2012 F10s. There are now 5 settings:
ECO PRO / COMFORT+ / COMFORT / SPORT / SPORT+

Based on this review: http://www.bimmerfest.com/forums/sho...d.php?t=575388
Steering/handling was improved for SPORT mode.

Interesting. Looks like a lot of good improvements for 2012.

Well I guess it's always good to wait a year after a new model comes out.

(But I guess that's the price you pay for being an early adopter like myself. )
