Who's planning on buying first year F10?
I am planning on getting one. I am considering a 2011 build and not a 2010 build (6-8 months after first release). My 04 is getting a little long in the tooth even though I only have 47k on the clock. I personally feel that alot of the features that were missing on the 04 E60 will not be missed on the new F10. BT, Ipod, HD nav ect will be there for sure considering that these are almost defacto items for luxury cars and BMW has been working on these items over the years. Plus I would bet that some of the technology from the F1 will be used. If you remember the last 7 series Idrive was a complete mess and I am sure that BMW is not going to make that mistake again. They seem to be standardizing over all the model when it comes to the IDrive. The one thing I may wait for is the M-Sport or M-Tech body kit. I think that makes the car look much meaner and not so plain.
I would consider it as a second MY car only. It seems radical enough of a change from the E60 that I want BMW to get some experience under its belt to work out the nooks and crannies. The new 7 series certainly had its share of faults the first year out

Just curious to see who the pioneers are going to be.
I have been looking at the spyphotos since last summer. At first the F10 looked too conservative to me after the E60, but now I think it will have it?s own design character which is growing on me. I think that at spring 2011 they will have the new MSport-package available and my currrent ride will be three years old / 60 tkms in tacho - so far I am seriously considering to have F10 MSport in May/June 2011.
To be honest, it will be difficult to keep waiting until that

I have had my E60 for over 5 years and still love it. Say what you want about Chris Bangle, the E60 is a styling masterpiece and still looks fresh even after all these years.
That said, I will not buy a F10 the first year in production. My E60 was mostly trouble free but there were too many features that were supposed to be there that were missing the first year. Like mp3 capability, listed in the Owner's Manual but missing in the car. Bluetooth connectivity that cost an hours' labor of re-programming to achieve. It too was supposed to be included. I spent a lot of money on a BMW cell phone and cradle before the Bluetooth thing was sorted out. And the software during the first year was constantly changing and requiring updates. I know the E60 was a huge leap forward from the E39 technically but it really needed a few more months of development before it was released.
Eventually the E60 got the features it should have had to begin with. But those who waited a year got much better value for their money. I still plan on buying another BMW but I will wait at least a year.

Yes, I think I will go for the second year model.
I plan on taking my wife's G8 GT when the lease is up on my 335i in Sept. I will then be looking to purchase her a 5 if the price is right and she likes the styling. Otherwise, we'll look at the Benz E class, new Infiniti M, or Lexus GS. I really hope that BMW gets our business though because I have really come to appreciate the customer service that I get at my dealer.
I'm thinking of getting an F10 about 6-9 months after they start manufacturing.... I think that 1/2 year would be enough
to iron out any kinks in the manufacturing process and correct them, right? hehehehehe
Well.... That's what I'm thinking but we'll see what it really looks like and then decide!

If the F10 simply inherits F01 technology, all will be good, as long as they fix the darn HPFP on the turbo models.
It's like my Z4. Its a brand new design but the 3.0 TT, the DCT, the new iDrive, the folding hard top, and even the active suspension have been around for awhile.
