This really wouldn't be that surprising or impossible if they plan on using the TT V8 from the X5/6 M in the new M5. Hopefully the dealer is just a jackass that took his money but its not unreasonable to think they could release the car by dec 2010 if they're going to recycle the motor

the TT V8 is going into the F10 550....the F10 M5 is rumored to have a V10 TT

That would be so great if BMW puts a V10 in the F10 M5. That would be so more much special than the TT V8 from the X5M and X6M. The TT V8 from the X5M and X6M has plenty of bhp and torque (and would already be considerably more powerful than the motor in the E63) but a V10 would be so much more special and exclusive and, no doubt, with TT, would bump stock horsepower levels to over 600. Think of how much more power you could easily extract from a TT V10 with an ECU remap that increased boost. 700 plus bhp anyone?

I might have mispoke actually thinking about it a bit more, most of the other forums/blogs state the f10 m5 will indeed have the TT V8...but if that's the case...whats the engine spec for the f10 550i then...

Most forums are saying the F10 M5 will have the TT V8 similar to the X5/6M. The regular F10 will most likely have the 400hp TT V8 like the current X6 and new 750.

I wouldn't be surprised though, if they end up pulling something else out of their hat like a TT V10. I mean, who knew they had a TT V12 in the works this whole time for the 760??

agreed...but if that's the case the 550 and M5 will have the same TT V8, just tuned differently?

wow, so what's to stop someone from buying an F10 550i and just tuning the crap out of it over purchasing the F10 M5?

*just playing devil's advocate here...

An M car is more than just the engine. What's to stop you from tuning your 535 to have the same power of the current M5?
