Unfortunately Ric the manufacturing facility in Egypt supplies options packages with each engine. The 523i would be the cheapest price with fewest options, the 528i would be the midrange with average options, and the 535i is sold at the highest price with obligatory options such as adaptive drive, soft closing doors, and LCD screens at the rear!

Due to economies of scale (the factory produces only 5400 cars a year), BMW can not custom make the cars according to the customer preference. For example, I can not add anti dazzling mirrors to a 523i nor can I eleminate the soft closing doors from the 535i as this will disturb the small capabilities of the production lines.

Unfortunately, I do not have the financial capability to buy the 528i or the 535i as these cars, though locally manufactured, are double the price of the US. The 523i is within my range. Importing a car manufactured in Germany would mean that I buy triple the price in the US, so it is not an option.

So now, which would you choose if you were in my shoes ?
Shebs,

I know your feeling - had the same many years back when the first child arrive. Suddenly I looked at my car with different priorities... "hey, my car has a back seat! Where did that come from?!?"

I would go for the E60, because it's a sportier and more well equipped model. It's also the last model year wheras the F10 being a very nice car still needs a year or two to weed out any untested issues. And if you are a gadget guy like me - I would simply be bored in a low spec car.

not really, I have seen countless F10 around here in Miami, including the modded one down the street from me. Yet they are the ones that ALWAYS break neck to my car. Specially when I smoke their 528's....UMHAHAHA (evil laugh)

I just wanted to inform you that i have arrived at a decision after months of thorough studying and test driving of both cars, the F10 and the E60. I sold my 2006 523i last week.

I have included the F10 528i (not the 523i) in my comparison to the E60 530i.

The 2010 530i has N52B30 engine with 272 bhp and 315 Nm, the 2011 F10 528i has the same N52B30 engine but with 258 hp and 310 Nm. We do not get the N53 direct injection engines due to high sulfur content (just like North America, Austrailia, Malaysia, and Singapore).

2011 F10 528i advantages over 2010 E60 530i

1. Better interior design and quality.
2. Much more comfort especially that all the F10s in Egypt are equipped with VDC.
3. Ability to adjust Drive Train and Chassis according to the drivers mood.
4. Better crash test results.
5. Much better 10.2" i-Drive screen.
6. Better aesthetics at night with the lights turned on, especially the tail lights.
7. Engine sounds much better and throttle response when set to Sport is much better.
8. Gearbox is flawless when compared to the old 6 speed auto in the E60.
9. New vs. Used (6000 - 10000 miles on the dial for the E60s 530i available currently in my country).

2010 E60 530i advantages over 2011 F10 528i

1. Exactly 9% less wight. Most of the weight saving is in front which adds to the weight saving advantage.
2. Better maneuvering ability and higher cornering speeds. Better steering feel. Same breaking performance.
3. Less coefficient of drag.
4. Equipped with HK Logic 7 which is till not available in Egypt's F10 528i (comes with HiFi Loudspeaker system).
5. Faster in straight line. 0-100 in 6.6 compared to 6.7.
6. Same cockpit space, no compromise in seating capacity or luggage space.
7. Active steering vs. servotronic (IAS still not available in Egypt's 528i).
8. 33% LOWER PRICE. I can get the E60 530i at USD 75 k (around 450 k Egyptian pounds) and the F10 528i is new at USD 113 k (around 660 k EGP).

I have thought carefully and arrived at the fact that I have never felt that my E60 was a harsh ride for my every day use. Yes the F10 is much more comfortable, but I do not need this extra comfort at my age.

I am also not an aesthetics person. I hate any kind of makeup . A 6.5" low resolution i-Drive screen is nearly of the same value to me as the Professional Navigation 10.2" high resolution screen in the F10 as they both do the same functions.

I guess by now you've guessed that I will go for the E60 530i. I will keep the E60 530i for at least two years, may be then some revisions to the steering feel and engine of the F10 528i would have been made and by the time I hopefully would have grown up.

Attached are the spec sheets for both cars. Please review them if possible.

Wish me luck with my new car . Thanks for your help on this topic.
