My Ride: Awaiting a Saphire Black 520d SE, Black High-Gloss Trim, Black Fusion Upholstery, Hi-Fi Stereo, DAB Radio, USB/Ipod Adaptor. ETA Nov 21st 2007
I've just clocked 500 miles, the trip computer is reporting 50.1 mpg. That's been mostly motorway stuff, but to be honest, all on the m25 which is max speed 10mph half the time.

My Ride: 520d F10, Sport Auto, Black, sun protection, Oyster/Black with Anthracite, Ambient lighting.
I think it drives wonderfully. Its incredibly more refined, both in terms of power delivery and the way it holds the road - I'm loving it.
I read all the continual comments about steering and I just don't get it - in "Normal" its different, but I dont find any weak centre, nor do I not feel in as good a contact to the road as in my e60. In "Sport" it feels like my e60, I can't tell the difference - have to say, i like having the choice, I mostly use the car as a commuter, it does 150 miles a day + taking me back and forth into London, and its nice to have a more refined comfortable cruiser for those long days - at the weekend, the "Sport" transmission and steering turn it into a much more fun car to drive, so no complaints!
And the inside is just _so_ luxurious, nobody can not like that - my e60 was spartan inside!
I don't have the variable damper control, so I can't comment but I certainly dont feel like I'm missing something.

Grats on the new car! I really like the new F10 and especially love the DSB color , but I just can't seem to get over the line between the hood and the front grill, it just looks out of place.

If I may chip in here. After driving mine for about 10000km by now, I must say that there's enough power, you can feel that it has a lot more power than the old 6-cyl 523i in terms of acceleration and torque.
Ofcourse the engine is not as smooth as a gasoline engine, but hey, it's a diesel
Overall handling is excellent IMO.
There is one MUST with the 520d - get the 8-speed sports auto gearbox! When you put it in sports mode, it becomes a completely different car.
The take-off acceleration is very quick. Ofcourse, the acceleration drops off quicker than with a more powerful engine... Overtaking is 2 sec faster than the 523i (2008 E61 - my old car)
