My Ride: Awaiting a Saphire Black 520d SE, Black High-Gloss Trim, Black Fusion Upholstery, Hi-Fi Stereo, DAB Radio, USB/Ipod Adaptor. ETA Nov 21st 2007
Picked up my 520 after a 5 month wait on Thursday - have to say I fell in love with it the moment I saw it in front of the dealers. All my fears (so far) from reading the odd problem here and their on this and other boards have come to nothing, the car is perfect in almost every way - as so many others have said, it looks _so_ much better in life than on a screen, there's a subtle sleekness about the F10 that informs of power, speed.
To drive, it's an absolute delight - I did 250 miles back from a work meeting on Friday afternoon, and from 70 miles an hour down country lanes (Sport+ really make the thing turn into an absolute beast!) to stop-and-start for an hour on the M25, it drove wonderfully.
So, I've taken some photos as requested - already need to get it washed, as the long trip yesterday has covered the wheels in dust, but I went ahead now anyways, as I won't have time to get it cleaned this weekend. FYI, this is a 520d, Deep Sea Blue, Oyster/Black Dakota, with 18 inch wheels, Pro Sat Nav, Pro Audio, Ambient Lighting, Comfort Seats, Sports Transmission, Sports Steering, DAB Radio, iPod adaptor, AirCon+, heated seats.

What does it drive like compared to the E60 in terms of ride quality? I am due to order a 520d tomorrow and not sure if I need variable damper control?

I think it drives wonderfully. Its incredibly more refined, both in terms of power delivery and the way it holds the road - I'm loving it.
I read all the continual comments about steering and I just don't get it - in "Normal" its different, but I dont find any weak centre, nor do I not feel in as good a contact to the road as in my e60. In "Sport" it feels like my e60, I can't tell the difference - have to say, i like having the choice, I mostly use the car as a commuter, it does 150 miles a day + taking me back and forth into London, and its nice to have a more refined comfortable cruiser for those long days - at the weekend, the "Sport" transmission and steering turn it into a much more fun car to drive, so no complaints!
And the inside is just _so_ luxurious, nobody can not like that - my e60 was spartan inside!
I don't have the variable damper control, so I can't comment but I certainly dont feel like I'm missing something.
