Pete, I believe the boost pressure is elevated from 9psi to 14psi. I'd worry about head gaskets and such.
OTOH if a bmw/dinan dealer does the flash it's a fully warrantied job. I think I'm going for it!

It's pretty $$$ for just a chip (the ones advertised on EBay are around $50-100 but I'm sure those are all fake). Anyways, tell us how it works out after you get it installed.....I'm interested to see if it delivers as advertised.

Thanks guys,. I'm a waiter now. First Beemer ever. The 800# indicated production is not scheduled yet.
The sales guy was touting Dinan's chip. 400hp>495HP and torque increases from 479 to 575 ft/lb. Is this snake oil or real?
I've chipped a few porsches but never saw that huge a difference in HP/torque.
Any thoughts greatly appreciated.
Mike

I would not chip a 550i, you'll lose a lot of bucks - who would buy a spoild 550i?

3k is about 4% of a 73K MSRP, that's a bargain if the performance numbers are anywhere near accurate
If I decided to buy out the lease to flip the car, the ecu gets flashed back to normal if necessary.
Still waiting to get a production date...

dinan's premium price also comes with a warranty unlike other aftermarket tunes/chips....so you'll be paying for your peace of mind as well should something go wrong.....
also, I don't find it impossible to squeeze out such high numbers with just a flash...N54 flashes can go from +40 to +80 rwhp, that's an I6 TT...so I would expect to get even bigger gains with a V8 TT set-up...gotta love FI engines and the potential they have.....
