nav or no nav?

nav or no nav?
Hi! New here after just buying a 2012 520d.
To save me looking like a dick arguing with my dealer could you guys confirm me this?
I was told my idrive had nav and my idrive controller has a button with nav on but the display itself is missing the navigation menu and nothing happens with nav being pressed!
This normal and the nav has not been chosen as an option?
