Cool! If that is the M-Sport Package F10 5 Series, I'm 100% sure that I will not be buying a F10 5/ F10 M5!

Adrian van Hooydonk REALLY did a $hit job! Great work mate! This is what he said to Top Gear "We are always looking ahead, designing three years ahead of ourselves, shaping tomorrow."

The F10 is like a year 2000 model car!

Thank God we had an E60 by Chris Bangle!

Just bring out the new 6 Series and/or Gran Coupe so I can move on! F10 5 is just a failure!

Some of us already did.
What BMW has to realize is that not all five series owners aspire to have a seven series, BMW assumes that we just don't have enough money for a seven yet.
The Grand Coupe is more in line with what this crowd would like to drive partly because it DOESNT look like the old mans seven.

I totally agree. I could afford a 7 Series but the last thing I want is a super heavy luxo barge. 7 Series is a great looking car but too big and heavy for me. My biggest concern with the F10 is not the look, which I like, but the ridiculous massive weight gain.

Yeah, the current 6 Series concept and styling was also van Hooydonk's! His Z9 concept was what the current 6 Series was based on! He did a good job with the 6 Series and the Gran Coupe but he totally F@%@ed up the F10 from the E60! And yes, I could be driving the 7 Series if I wanted to as well but decided to take the 5 Series (E60) because it was just SO perfect in dedicating space, luxury whilst posing that sporty look! Just a perfect balance! van Hooydonk is a moron!

I doubt HE designed it. I am sure BMW has a team of designers. I assume the following process:
1. Not long after the E60 was out, a top management committee decides on the direction for the next 5 series. Probably "bigger", and "less controversial" were key points.
2. A group is selected to do design studies. At the same time, engineering looks over technical details and possibilities for the next series.
3. The top 2-3 are selected. By now it's still 3-4 years out. For the F10, that would have been 2006-2007. Was Bangle still in charge then?
4. Design is matched up with engineering to lay out the final specs of the car. Here is where they decided to marry the F01 & F10 to the same chassis.
5. The top design is picked, refined to the mm, built in clay, and approved by management (by this time Hooydonk) for production.
6. The whole gamut of styling details, interior specifics, wheels, colors, etc is laid out and refined.
7. Finally by 2008, the 1st prototype is built and most things are locked in.

The E60 has made the 5 Series more profitable than the 3 Series. It looked different than both the 3 and 7 Series. I never owned a 3 and will probably never own a 7 so the cut the sausage to what size you can afford doesnt work with the sport crowd.
But maybe we (this forum member type)are a tiny minority, there are plenty of farty men and soccer mom's that drive these and maybe that formula works for them?
