Yes the non E63 E Class cars are not fun to drive at all based on my 4 days of renting an E350 a few weeks ago in So Cal. They suffer from numb steering and plenty of body roll combined with limited lateral grip. The do have nice interiors, great steros, good electronics and a nice highway ride. But they are souless in terms of driving pleasure. The new E Class was a chore to drove fast on twisty canyon roads -- not even remotely comparable to an E60 with sport suspension.
