Hi, I have the 520d and am having problems with the Handsfree calling on my iPhone 4. It used to work but doesn't anymore.
I can scroll through my address book with iDrive and make calls etc but when I try to make a handsfree call it says the address book is empty? I edited one of my contacts and selected "save to car" but it still says the address book is empty. Has anyone come across this before or know how to fix? Would be much appreciated!
Paul.

have you tried clearing all of your stored contacts and paired devices and then uploading and pairing again? Also, have you tried any other devices to see if they are having the same problem, might help to distinguish between your device and your car on where the problem is...

Hiya, thanks for the welcome ;-)
Both myself and wifes iPhones do the same thing, have wiped and restarted. The voice is different so I think what I am now hearing is the BMW voice control whereas in the past I have always heard the iPhone voice control. For some reason the voice control button on the steering wheel is no longer calling up the voice control on the iPhone. I'm not sure what has caused this, I am on the latest iPhone OS and my wife on an older one. I will post on the iPhone forums as well to see if anyone has come across this. Normally I would immediately say it was the iPhone as I upgraded the OS recently, but my wifes is still at the same level so something strange is happening.

Really easy to fix.
Open the window, throw the apple junk out of it then go by a Blackberry.
Easy

if you don't have the CCC unit the voice dial numbers are different than the phonebook, you have to store them by voice separately. press the voice button and say "help phone" and it should list the commands. i think it's "store number" or something like that. no combination of button presses on the phone or idrive will let you save to that list, you have to do it by voice.
if you DO have the CCC, your car must have been updated at some point and the voice recognition "authorization" file wasn't added back, so you've lost the CCC voice command unit and are using the one built in to the TCU. Try to give a voice command to the radio or navigation and see if it responds.
