I wonder if the North American intro date is accurate. I've noticed on the BMW.ca website that you can only order two variants of the 2010 535xi. You can choose an Executive package or an M Sport package. the balance of the options don't show and the price is about $74,000, quite a bt lower than a loaded 2009 built up for. Mercedes Benz did this las fall with the E class and 6 months later the new E class is in dealer showrooms.

Comments??
You know this thread is about the F10 right?

What's your point?

The header for this forum is "Speculate about the new and upcoming 5 series, the F10. It's due out in 2010 as MY2011". Since this thread was started to talk about the introduction date of the F10. I was adding to the discussion by relating my knowledge of the current marketing direction for the outgoing E60 in Canada; which might imply a different introduction date than that reported for Europe. I thought those waiting for the new car (as I am) may be interested and like to comment.

So, maybe the 540i will have more than ~300 hp? Say 350. That would be a nice bump.
The F10 540i will have the same HP as the current E60 540i, and that's 306PS from a 4 Liter engine.

Perhaps the next 540 will receive the same engine from the new 740i,
which has 326PS from a 3 Liter engine? Just a wild guess....

Wild guesses are fun 'n all, but if BMW say it'll be 306PS, I'm expecting it to be 306PS. Why would they say it'll be 306 if it's not going to be?

When will I learn that sarcasm never translates effectively for me over the Internet?
"Wild guesses", indeed...

No one should have any reason to disbelieve the possibility that the F10 will use the F01's engine.
The information you posted is from Auto-Bild magazine, and while they ARE pretty reliable,
I really don't think any article has truly addressed this topic. Ever since the the new F01 740i debuted,
the future use of the '535 vs 540' nomenclature (or for any of the models that use the N54) has been
up in the air.

Until BMW has made an Official announcement this particular issue is still speculation.

At the beginning of the article it says that for such a long time they hadn't heard a single word coming out of BMW and then suddenly they received all this information from them about the launch time and all the engines that will be used.

O.K. ...I just read this article:

5 Series Gran Turismo to Receive Single Turbo Six

...so it looks as if BMW has a new turbo engine (N55) with the same power(?) as the N54, and they have dubbed this model the 535i. Since it looks like they are retaining the 535i nomenclature, I would suppose that the F10 gets this also?

Thoughts anyone?
