I think it was around MY07-08 that BMW NA finally allowed the US to order it officially which would be 3 model years or more after intro of the e60, as opposed to ROW that was offered it in the first model year.

...let's poll the board, does anyone in the US have a 2007 or earlier e60 M-sport, meaning the full package ordered on you car from your dealer, not just the body kit?

The following posts indicate that the M sport package (or "Aero Kit") was available (and fitted at the VPC) earlier than MY2007...

that is not the M spork pack!!! The M sport pak is not an aero kit and not fitted at the VPC, that is just simply the body kit!!

So, I think Im correct in noting that it will be atleast 3 model years if not more before the US gets the ability to actually buy an M-sport from the dealer, yet again BMW NA is screwing us to try to protect M

The first E60 M Sport I saw at a dealer was an '07 model if I recall. It may have been a special order at that.

I ordered during the 2005 model year and took delivery of my 2006 550i in 10/06. At that time, the M body kit was listed as an accessory and available for installation at the Prep Center. I didn't think it was available as a normal oprion until the LCI 2008 year. But not sure.

Yeah, I guess my earlier source was not as reliable as I thought.

As of today, the latest information (official info released to dealers from BMW) is that the "M Sport Package" will be available in the USA starting with September 2010 production...

It also looks as if I can still get wood in place of the aluminum trim. I'm seriously considering delaying my order from July production to September now...

Much more info can be found here!

Per your other post, I assume you mean September 2010 production.
