Thanks I found this site called “the ecu pro”. I’m leaning towards that route. Has anyone had any experience with them?

I would advise you to send it to someone who specializes in BMW DMEs. I pinged my group to see if someone is close to you that can assist by putting it on a bench.

What happens to the programming results that you posted was that for a different code? Just as I said previously the internal failure was a concern. Personally I would replace it and for that you need AutoHex and ISTA which is only cost efficient to people who does work all the time on modules

I don't see the need to send the CAS.

I’m looking at this website specifically. Looks affordable and they reference my car. Unless you know of a better option
.https://the-ecu-pro.com/garage/servi...mevd17-2-6-cas
they want the dme, cas and a key to test

Just be prepared to pay that $1499 cost. Most DMEs can't be repaired due to the nature of the failure. Since they are doing it by bench and programming everything he would need those things to do the programming portion of replacement is needed. Personally I wouldn't waist my time with testing. I would purchase another DME then send it in for cloning service you'd come out cheaper if replacement was needed. The sad part is the DME is a discontinued part so your only choice is used which would possibly have you in the same predicament later on.

That’s interesting advice. Thank you I’ll look into it. I may do a hybrid of testing my original to verify that’s the issue and cloning a replacement. The other codes I get relate to my park distance control .I have a few cas faults referencing terminal 15 and 30f limits . I can clear those but not the dme fault. Which seems to be related to power to my valvetronic motor
