Have you tested your battery? Where you working on the car before it stopped starting?

Forrest59 10-19-2022 07:46 AM

No I wasn’t working on the car and I keep the battery, which is less than six months old on a trickle charger from the jump points under the hood

Was the battery coded when replaced

Forrest59 10-19-2022 03:16 PM

Yes I was told the new battery was registered with the car.
Question. Can I try starter fluid with a fuel injected engine?

seanjordan20 10-19-2022 04:10 PM

Did it die when the car was running? Yes but if the fuel pump is priming there's no point.

Forrest59 10-19-2022 05:07 PM

Yes it seemed to be running fine and I was probably going about 50 mph when it died. When I try to start it it feels like it wants to start but then just continues to turn over. I’m going with the old adage a car needs fuel and spark. So need advice on best way to check this. Thanks everyone for responding

Is the SES icon illuminated? You need to read the DTC codes.

If it went while driving to me that would seem like a crank position sensor or cam position sensor issue. I don't want to speak the worst scenario which is the timing chain but that should of given you multiple codes. Look at your sensors to see if the are oily or connector wires are damaged. I would go as far as ohming it out to check to see if they are good. Start with crank first. I had mine go out and had no codes at first but when I checked the sensor it was covered with oil. Swapped it out and it's been fine every since. You may need a better OBD reader also. There is definitely codes you're not seeing with what was used.

Thanks , I went into he car computer that shows up on the speedo cluster and don’t have any code except for the tpms. I doubt , fingers crossed , that it’s a timing chain issue as there was no cel showing when it stopped. I’ll check the crank position sensor. That’s a good suggestion. Thanks again
