Update. Firstly, thank you Sean for trying to help me download ISTA+ , I gave up as it was beyond me. I’m sure it’s something stupid I just don’t get. Anyway I upgraded my foxwell nt510 elite scanner with bmw. Fairly easy to do, tech at foxwell was helpful. Did a scan and got the following faults that may indicate what my no start issue is
codes
1. 101F01 air mass system
2. 133010 valvetronic servomotor activation malfunction secondary reaction line disconnection
3. 133011 valvetronic supply voltage malfunction, secondary reaction, voltage supply
4. 1335608 valvetronic system no movement identified
5.135B11 valvetronic servomotor activation, volt phase line disconnection
6. 1F0904 dme internal fault ,activation valvetronic malfuction
I’m not sure but it seems like from what I’m reading the valvetronic servomotor isn’t getting power
i cleared the codes and tried starting the engine again, no start, and one code appeared133011 as described in #3 above
any thoughts on how to proceed? Would a bad cam shaft or servomotor throw these kind of codes?
thanks again for any help

If #3 came back then that would indicate that the Valvetronic eccentric shaft needs to be replaced. I'm also concerned about the DME code which could point to a bad resistor causing no power to the valvetronic.

Unfortunately because of my rural surroundings there are no indies available until thanks giving. So all I’ve got is sweat money as you say. I enjoy learning about this car and want to see if I can fix it. Is there a way to check the DME. I agree the voltage power thing seems to be my issue. I wonder if a mouse got in there and chewed something
