I know the IBS is some kind of sensor to measure voltage and Current. Hall Effect perhaps. That is on the negative Node. Are there any sensors also on the positive Node? It looks pretty thick. I have 2 Heavy Awg wire going to it. Red. One for the starter, what is the other one for?

Does it go to the starter or alternator? You also have one the goes to the jump point under the hood. I don't really know how it's routed.

By the way, this is the Beast. The Floating computer. BMW put the Good engine in it. N52 just what's up with all the modules. The other thing is that I don't understand the people who buy these Cars New and let all module problems to add up. Why you buying a 5 Series 530xi 4dr Sdn AWD $49,000 / $44,770 and don't take care of it. That should be a crime on its own. You obviously have the money to dish out almost 50K but don't have the money to maintain it.

Because they can 1) easily buy another car or 2) sell their problems to someone else. If you don't know how to fix your own car problems (like most people) paying a mechanic for every little thing will cost way more than a new car.

I don't know how many people I know who've sold their bimmers due to maintenance costs. And what makes it worse is they take it to the $tealer. Then they show me their invoice with thousands of dollars of minor repairs that don't really need to be done.

You are right @donpb. Those are the very reasons why. I was lucky when I bought my 05 in 08 it was around 30k. The first thing that went on it was the thermostat and I took it in for repair. That was the last time. I realized a BMW is just like any other car when it comes to mechanics. Now the modules are a different story. I learned that a good used module from the junkyard is just as good and a few minutes programming saves me thousands. I've been working on them every since.

Update. What its been over 2 Weeks now? Bimmer Starts every time. My anxiety kind of went down now. Still extremely Cold outside and it starts The only thing is that I don't think I have opened the Passenger door yet. I need to get my car inspected by the end of March so the freaking Bank 1 and Bank 2 Efficiency fault came up a while back and since its went away. I am getting 24.5MPG with Regular fuel.

Once I pass PA inspection, I will feel more comfortable in tackling the other issues. Car drives nice. Again, I thank you guys for giving me some advice. much appreciated.

I use 87 Octane. Around where I live, there are all the Gas Stations that don't own their own Refineries. They buy what ever is cheap @ wholesale. Quality of fuel is questionable. My E46 I drove until there was 255000K Miles on 87 Octane. I don't get any better Gas milage going higher octane with these Retail companies. How many MPG do you get with 91Octane?
