There is 2 Connectors there on the Positive Node. The one that is fully connected has that Resistor you guys are talking about. I put electrical tape on it. I suppose somebody at some point fixed something by putting a pull down resistor on that node. At some point I will find the drawing and trace that out. The one I was talking about doesn't have anything connected to it.
So Far, My car started 2 Days in a row. Just is it normal when I unlock the Doors, the CD Changer to go through its boot cycle or something else is wrong.
The lower connector is the BST and adding the resistor is the BST bypass trick. Don't worry about the other connector. Nothing is connected to mine either.
I've never been a fan of the BST bypass. I've had the airbag light numerous times during my ownership and was always able to find what the issue was. I contemplated doing it once because I was on day 3 of troubleshooting and it was going no where. I just cleaned the connectors and cleared the error and it never came back.

Yeah I'm working on mine right now as its intermittent. I'm highly suspecting its the connector. I cleaned the connector before using electrical cleaner spray but that did nothing. Maybe it wasn't the right type of cleaner. The connector pins are most likely oxidized.
That's the other thing I might have to tackle . The Passenger occupancy sensor which on my car seems to bad. I have the seat belt light and Air bag light on. I will tackle this one when it gets warmer outside. The next thing I need to do is get this car pass Emission inspection in March. I want to take my bimmer to a local Bimmer Shop since I feel the other shops they see Bimmer and they see $$$$

Those 2 lights paired together doesn't necessarily mean the seat mat is bad. Try to get the codes and see what it's saying. I've had them paired before and have never changed my seat mat or installed the bypass under the seat.

More so the other shops don't know Bimmers unless they have lots of experience with them.

Yeah when I first got the airbag notification, googling led me straight to the occupancy sensor mat. Ended up being the BST connector though. Codes led me to the BST.
