Thanks. I presume the UK cars hinges are the same as ours here. Which side do the defrost wires go thru (I had them fixed last year). I've seen conflicting info on it:

Pritty sure there is no no difference for left en right handed cars, that would be stupid .

If it is the brake lights, then I'll just wait it out and see how it goes. Doesn't seem too bad if I'd have to replace it. It's a $100 part at least.

Thx. So if it is related to the wiring, one would expect the whole brake light to either work, or not, right? Not just a third of it to stop working, which would lead one to believe it's the light itself.

Today i opened the passenger side outside loom. No damage that i can see.

Isnt that where the right brake light is? I have a "Rear Right brake malfunction error" in idrive.

Also anyknow know the specific loom with the comfort access wires.

While popping the hinge on the glass, i forgot to keep pressure on the hinge and it catapulted my bolts into a black hole. I had to stop and drive to BMW to get a new bolt which wont arrive until monday...

Only the middle brake light is on the tailgate. Check your light bulb on the right side.

Hmm ill try reseating all the bulbs. Even though i get the error - my rear right brake lights work.

I still would like to know which metal harness controls the comfort access

Swap the bulbs around. Could be a bulb on its way out.
Also there are 2 bulbs each side for the brake light, check carefully that all 4 work and swap them around.

Not sure about the comfort access, but the diversity antenna below the spoiler has cables left and right. Remove the spoiler and you will see quickly.

Good idea, thanks for posting. It should be an obvious thing to try first but often we read a forum and assume what's going on with our own car is exactly the same.

My key fob will open the rear hatch however the actual electric handle will not. One section of the right brake lamp but also the right reverse lamp are out. Will test lamps before digging in.
