Brilliant, exactly what i was after, cheers MM

I have tried the forward clicks repeatedly, to no avail... this is why it worried me.

I'll give the seal a bash (once I've killed all these other jobs) and leave enough to time to Dremel the rear lift mechanism (if required)

Got the seal from the dealer a few weeks ago; it was sitting on my work bench. I had some time to install it this weekend - what a difference!

I used a small wire cutter to correctly size the seal. Worked like a charm

I have the standard sunroof on my 2009 5 series. After 3.5 years in southern California, the seal was shot. Lots of noise. In fact, when I test drove, was worried something was wrong with the roof. But after reading this post, I was no longer worried. Now that purchase is complete, I ordered and replaced the seal and it is perfect - even more quiet than I had hoped.

I was able to get almost all of the original adhesive off with careful pull of the old seal. I pulled back slowly and evenly at about a 60 degree angle. If I pulled out at 90 or even 45 degree, the foam seemed to tear much more. Lots of starts and stops, and more tearing - slow even speed.

Then cleaned the remainder with 3M adhesive remover.

For installation, I did it with the roof fully open. Just did a few inches at a time by eye. Making sure the top edge was as flush to the roof as possible. If a section was not perfect, I was able to pull off and reset. Once I was happy with position, used a roller to set the adhesive before I got to each corner. Made sure to work in very short sections at corner to make sure seal was tight to body. Had my son hold down the air diffuser as I went to keep it out of the way. Whole jobe maybe 25 minutes. 15 to pull off seal and clean. Then let dry and came back later - maybe 10 min to set new seal. Success! Thanks guys!

Anyone can help me with the temperature at what this exchange must occurs? Not to have the seal to hard or adhesive to fail. It is only 7 degrees Celsius now here.

Thanks

Can't you do it in an underground garage in a mall or somewhere so it's 15 degrees or more? Not saying it's needed, but if it's not that hard to find one, then why not?

Wife and I recently bought an '06 530xiT, immediately noticed a lot of wind noise coming from the sunroof at highway speeds!

Going to order 54 10 7 199 533 now. Anyone find them other than at Turner Motorsports in the US?

Thank you google, and thank you OP!

BMW Parts and Accessories at GetBMWparts.com usually has lots of stuff for good price. AKA Tischer BMW.

Thanks for that, ended up finding it cheapest on ebay for $32 shipped. My dealer wanted $56.

ECS has it for $29, but you need to buy another $20 to get free economy shipping (Tischer = $40 shipped).
