Speedometer doing something strange
Hi All,
Been a little while since I've checked in here. I've been spending time working on my new toy these past few months, an '88 535is. Here's my new issue on my e61 (when isn't there one?).
When I go to start my car, the speedometer has started to do this 5 MPH "tick" for about 5 seconds. Seems to be related to the fuel gauge, as the fuel gauge doesn't work until the speedometer stops its' little dance (when I actually start the car while it's still bouncing around). Sometimes when it stops, it actually sticks at 5 MPH, so I drive around with the speedometer showing 5 MPH faster than what I'm going. It does it without the key in the ignition as well. Today I watched it do its' thing through the window after I had just unlocked the car. So, it's diverse. Seems to be some sort of electrical feedback. If anybody has any ideas on where to start looking, I'd appreciate it!
Cheers,
Stu
