Today, I got sometime to check on this ICOM-B issue. This item I am not even able to open WinKfp without it giving net timeout error:009 which I was not having before.

Please find the attached ediabas ini file the way it is after I check ICOM lock in easyconnect. I made sure that ediabas is in my system path (C:\Ediabas\Bin). Both lights on ICOM-B are green and my car is in ignition ON mode without engine running.

Any suggestions are welcome

Hello Sean,

I was running the programs as Administrator in Win 10 64bit, but not in compatibility mode. I just followed installation on one of the BMW coding sites that is written and uploaded for Win 10. I have a Win 7 laptop that I specifically configured for BMW programming, but its been a while since I used it (I didnt have much luck with it either back in the day). Yesterday, I tried with Win 7 and I got this far and stopped with an error

When I check ICOM-B at this time, the system LED is orange rather than Green. I started off with both being Green on ICOM-B, but not sure when it turned orange. I tried again few times and I was not even able to lock ICOM anymore.

If you have a system that works flawlessly, I am happy to clone it onto a similar hardware, ofcourse, only if you are fine with it.
What is the actual steps of connecting ICOM and turning on the car so that everything will be recognized in proper order. At the moment, I had to plug/unplug ICOM-A and/or ICOM-B and/or turn the car off and on and/or plug and unplug the network cable and some point I get all Green on ICOM-B and with proper network connection. Its like playing poker and hitting jackpot out of the blue.

thanks

I'm looking through your file again and you're trying to communicate on 6801 and it needs to be 6802.

I've never used easy connect so I don't know what it does. Download Ediabas Konfiguator. Set the correct configurations and try to reconnect.

your mode should be base in easy connect. Don't worry about the above post for now

You have the A2 model? A lot of people have issues due to the lack of switching capabilities that weren't installed on some models which F series and Late model E series need

I'd pay someone to update your CIC and be done with it. You've been spending much more Sweat Money, unless you just really want to learn how to DIY.

I might even go one further and ask why the CIC needs updated? Maybe this can be avoided entirely.

The CIC unit that I retrofitted into mine is from a 2010 E60 535i and the software hasn't been updated since new. I am all ready to do combox retrofit and for the CIC to even recognize the combox, the software version needs to be higher than what it is now.

Also, one thing I really miss from CCC is the detailed list of service items, on CIC I am not sure where it is hidden. For example, in CCC, you can see how many miles left until your next brake service etc which I am not sure where to access on CIC

Instead of combox have you considered an aftermarket MMI? They are ~$250 and add wireless Carplay/Android Auto. That's what I went with and it does exactly what I want. There's a huge thread on it here:

I have a 2010 with CIC, the Service menu is in there. Somewhere under "vehicle info" I think?
