Sorry, but what do you use the USB for? You really need to be an ipod addicted to use it, I thought I could use it together with my phone and take the mp3 from there, but that didn't work, now I only use it to charge the phone (who also have tomtom nav 6 with speed cams) since I don't have any 12V out lets accept in the rear seat.

What happened anyway with 12V in front of the speed shift?
Well - mainly for the iPod. It's just much nicer to have 5000 songs available instantly than a few CDs in the glove box. You might be able to use it for your phone if the phone has a setting for USB mass storage. It also works with regular USB thumb drives.

My car still has a 12V socket in the ashtray as well, but I don't use it as the nav is built in as well.....

Mate,

I would check the real economy for the cost of diesel in your country. The cost of diesel in Australia is $1.70 per ltr. The diesel hauls arse to 150km/h but if you want to boogie around the 200km/h zone in the outback forget the diesel its out of breath up there. The petrol option is still very good depending on where you are. We only pay about $1.35 for petrol and get about 10 to12 ltrs per 100km economy and yes that includes 100mph highway runs.

Either way a good ride and get the USB. Also grab the wheels you really want prior to delivery. Even better get a 550i and burn the fuel while we have it!

It comes with the smoker pack. I'm not a smoker but took the smoker pack so I could get the 12v socket in the front.

The USB option also works with normal MP3 players, so it does not have to be an iPOD.

A couple of weeks ago I changed to an iPOD and it does now have additional menus that come with the iPOD itself. However other than that, its the same as with the MP3 players... hundreds / thousands of songs, folders and songs viewable on your iDrive display, and not limited to 6 disks in your glovebox. Sorted!

IMHO the USB option really is a must have nowadays.

I use the USB option almost every day, and I still don't have an MP3 player! I still use my 4 GB USB stick where I've downloaded Podcasts and some favourite songs. Works excellent!

Its true that logic 7 is better than the hifi speakers but the hifi speakers (incl amp) are far better than the standard setup; so go for Hifi and spend the money saved on one (or both) of two goodies; active cruise and comfort seats.

The active cruise is a great bit of kit, especially when cruising motorways or a roads. Most people dont like using cruise when there is any traffic about; the active component lets you use it far more; makes for for more relaxed long journeys.

The comfort seats adjust in all sorts of ways, including the back rest (split into two), the thigh length and the backrest width. Lumbar is also included. These are the best car seats I have owned (even better than the Recaros in my Opel Monza 3.0 auto of 1983) and are worth evey penny. They also look great and make the car stand out from those without.

Hope this helps?

Probably old news but anyway,
there IS a 12V power outlet in front even if you don't have the smoker pack! Atleast in my car...
It's hidden though
You'll find it in the roof of the right footwell. Get down and have a look, you'll find it.
