New NAVI maps a step backward?
I have a '10 535xiT (still an E61) and an '06 530xiT. The '10 has the new hard-drive based NAVI. The '06 has the DVD-based system. The '06 has an '08 DVD map in it.
I have found that the '01, with maps from TeleAtlas, has less detail and currency than the '08 DVD maps in the '06.
For instance, my mother-in-law's house shows on the '08 DVD but not the '10 hard drive map. The house has been there since '07. (not that I wouldn't mind getting lost on the way.)
So, to test this theory, we downloaded a torrent of the latest BMW DVD, a 2010 release that uses two DVDs, splitting the country. It has the same data as the hard drive but is actually a step backward from the '08 DVD.
BMW has confirmed that this is a problem. I am not a stickler on this stuff, but if I wanted outdated maps, I could buy a $100 Garmin from CompUSA.
Has anyone else noticed this?
