My Ride: e61 525i JPN winter/comfort
Default New e61 owner needs spec help

Good morning/afternoon to all,

I just paid the deposit and did all my check ups on this e61 pictured. Needs new tyres, new rear pads, new front bushes, repair to the rear left quarter privacy blind and judging by the wind noise on the highway, it also needs a new rubber seal for the sunroof (advice wanted).
Also has a small oil leak at the front of the block which I'm guessing is from the oil cooler? gasket?

Im in Hong Kong and just got this 525i from Japan, I think its got the comfort and winter pack as its got an emergency Flare in the passenger footwell as well as a few other Japanese options like CD/MiniDisk player with a HDD hard drive in the rear.
Heated seats, rear door airbags, bluetooth, iDrive, maybe more, not sure yet.

Im new to e61's so please correct me if I'm wrong.

I know its a small engine but HK is not a big place with 90% city driving coupled with ridiculous heat and humidity. I thought a larger engine would suffer cooling issues here.

What I really want to know is, what spec this car came with so I can check whats there and whats working/not working? Is there a website link that I can plug in my vin number and get my spec sheet?

let me know what you think? all comments welcome.

Seat adjuster, electric, with memory

Ski bag - missing?

Xenon Light
Automatic air conditioning
Cruise control with brake function

TV function - can this be tuned to pick up local TV or only Japanese channels?

Navigation system Professional

Voice control - where is this and what does it do?

Preparation f mobile phone w Bluetooth
CD changer for 6 CDs

Area-Code 2 for DVD - can the DVD area code be changed or disabled?

Comfort access - you don't need to press unlock button in your car remote when you gonna put your hand on door handle they'll open also you don't need to insert you remote/key to the slot in steering wheel column just press the start button and engine and you good to drive.

Green windscreen, green shade band - there's greenish stripe on the top of your windshield slightly visible I believe it's done kind of sun protection.

Ski bag - when you gonna pull down armrest in back seat there's ski bag located and yes it can be missing if you can't locate it cause this is removable.

TV function - I believe yes it can be tuned (flashed) as radio tuners can be.

Voice Control - on your steering wheel or next to idrive controller (depend the car year and version) are located voice button, when you'll press it it allows you to use voice instead pressing buttons for some car functions like a navigation, radio, cd etc.

DVD area code I believe can be changed (flashed) as well.

Battery master switch - I have no idea what is this but I'll probably not use this option.

Hot climate version - as option says car was produced for hot climate region, has stronger a/c unit.

Language version - You can try to change it in your car settings, ccc/cic should allow you to change it.

Outer skin protection - special paint/wheels/glass protective film for car export process.

I hope it helps.

Thankyou very much wooboodoo !

im liking the sound of the comfort access! will check if it works.

When you say some electrics can be flashed is this something a specialist needs to do with some special equipment or something the layman can DIY?

Im in Hong Kong so could it be done remotely if I can't find someone local? Im assuming BMW do not offer this service. Can you point me in the right direction?

I am loving all the "extras" on the car, very happy with it as a whole.
