Need help! - BMW E61 SZL/DSC/ABS Lights
Hey guys I recently purchased a 07 530xi Sport Wagon (servotronic). I got it with the cluster lit up, heavy steering and soft brake pedal... Scanned the car, lots of errors.
SZL:
9501 - Steering angle sensor not adjusted
DSC:
5E4E - Wheel-speed sensor, supply, front left
5E24 - Wheel speed sensor, supply, front left
5E4C - Wheel speed sensor, supply, front right
5EBA - Steering-angle sensor, plausibility
5E5A - Wheel speed general
(more errors but these were the ones I think that have to do with the lights)
I focused on the SZL steering angle sensor, I tried to calibrate it with protool but I got a connection error, so I tried Ista+, service options and set steering angle but that could not communicate with the SAS either. I took the SAS apart and cleaned the sensor disc but still the same issue and codes.
Checked fuses that had to do with SZL, no issues.
I found a used SZL combination with the SAS and installed it, made sure everything was installed properly. Factory coded it with protool and changed the vin. Still could not adjust the angle sensor on protool, same communication error. Same 9501 error. Tried Ista+ again and this time it let me into the SZL steering angle calibration but it failed and said it might not have been installed properly. Took it apart again and double checked the orientation arrows and all wiring. Still the same issue.
After a few more tries with Ista+ it is not communicating again, same issue as the first unit.
Inpa and protool show the steering angle reading as -1440.154 or !144.20 etc.
Battery voltage and everything is good.
Not sure what else to check for this, I could try re-programming the new SAS using winkfp but im pretty sure protools did that already. I can try replacing the front wheel speed sensors but I am pretty sure those are there because of something wrong with the SAS (after reading some other threads).
Anyone have issues calibrating the SAS on a E60 xdrive with servotronic (no active steering) ?
